Gold Leaf Records release - 2006
From his early VA. roots in R&B, Rock, and Soul to his young adult immersion into contemporary Jazz, Fusion, and Latin music (much of it experienced while living in Miami, Fl.), Darrell's influences have run the gamut from James Brown, Marvin Gaye, EWF, Led Zeppelin, Grand Funk and Steely Dan, to John Coltrane, Pat Metheny, Chick Corea, Roy Ayers, Herbie Hancock, "Q", Gil Scott Heron, and Weather Report; a wide range to be sure. His refined, smooth, rich vocals come from years of experience playing in groups all the way from Coconut Grove, Fl., to New York and points north. Darrell currently performs both as a soloist and with various ensembles in the Washington, D.C. area.
"Just me flying solo for now, but I'm currently building a really tight ensemble and I'm looking for some more talented musicians living in the Washington, D.C. metro area who can help me flesh-out what I know will be a truly special group, able to perform all styles of cool jazz, R&B, pop, Latin and fusion music (both covers and originals). If you play bass or percussion (singing is a plus), and are looking for a project that is both musically challenging and artistically rewarding, please give me a call or shoot me an e-mail, and thanks so much for your support!"
