Darrell has had the privilege of working with many notable artists including the late, great Jaco Pastorius, bass player with the renowned fusion group Weather Report, Carlos "Patato" Valdez, celebrated Latin percussionist, JVC recording artist Carmen Lundy, the late "Godfather of Go Go" Chuck Brown, as well as the duo Peaches and Herb.

Darrell worked as co-producer and co-writer on the Peaches and Herb CD, "Colors of Love" (Imagen Records).  He has also produced industrial music for a number of radio and cable TV productions, and provided creative services for video production houses and media companies including BET.

Having been a composer and arranger, music producer, session musician and musician-for-hire with many live performers, Darrell has focused his efforts as a solo artist.  Originally based in Washington, D.C. but recently moved to Columbia, South Carolina, Darrell performs as a singer/pianist and multi-instrumentalist.  His music (both contemporary cover-tunes and original compositions) is a blend of jazz, pop, R&B, Latin, and soft-rock infusions that create a wonderful and powerful energy and mood.  His musical interpretations and styling are at once mesmerizing and artistically stimulating, leaving the listener wanting more.  So please take the time to get to know Darrell Johnson. You'll be glad you did.
